NHS doctors referred to regulator to ‘intimidate’ whistleblowers, admits GMC Procedure weaponised against those who raise concerns over patient safety.  The doctors’ regulator has admitted that referrals are sometimes being used to “intimidate” whistleblowers . On Friday, Prof Dame Carrie MacEwen, the General Medical Council (GMC) chairman , acknowledged that the system for assessing doctors’ fitness to practice is being weaponised against those who raise patient safety concerns . Chronic Fatigue Syndrome versus Sudden Onset Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (also known as " Enteroviral Encephalomyelitis ") Leonard A. Jason DePaul University Meredyth Evans DePaul University Abigail Brown DePaul University Madison Sunnquist DePaul University Julia L. Newton Newcastle University ABSTRACT A revised "sudden onset" case definition for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) (also known as Enteroviral Encephalomyelitis) has been developed (Jason, Damrongvachiraphan, Hunnell, Bartgis, Brown, Evans, & Brown, 2012) based on past case definitions. In a prior study, Jason, Brown, Clyne, Bartgis, Evans, and Brown (2012) compared patients recruited using the 1994 case definition of "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)" to contrast those meeting criteria for the revised M.E. criteria.  They found that this revised M.E. case definition identified patients with more functional impairments and physical, mental, and cognitive problems than those meeting...

INTEGRATED DEFINITION OF "MYALGIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS" Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (also known as "Enteroviral Encephalomyelitis") - M.E. An integrated physician-facing definition derived from the 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2016 writings of Dr. Byron Hyde, together with his advice to primary-care physicians PURPOSE OF THIS INTEGRATED DEFINITION This document integrates Dr. Byron Hyde’s descriptions of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis across his 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2016 writings and his advice to primary-care physicians into a single clinically organized definition. It is intended to preserve the epidemiological history, infectious onset, neurological disease pattern, enteroviral observations, pathological observations, objective investigations, vascular and physiological abnormalities, and acute and chronic enteroviral investigations described across those sources without repeatedly restating the same observation simply because it occurs in more than one doc...
